Helio Cell Phone Service
There’s a new MVNO in town, Helio. I read about Helio a few months ago in a Wired magazine. It’s a joint venture between the guy who started EarthLink and SK Telecom (Korea). The promise is that the phone won’t suck and will actually use current technology. The US mobile market is years behind the rest of the world. It seems like the mobile providers here actively find ways to make phone plans suck, restrict technologies and overcharge subscribers. I switched to Cingular because they’re the closest thing we have to a quality carrier. They have the best phones and SIM chips that let you switch phones without calling the provider. You can even pick up a European phone, snap your SIM chip in and use that on the Cingular network. Anyway, News.com has a good overview of Helio.
