Blog Direction

There’s a time in every bloggers life where he (or she, of course) decides that his blog needs to take a new direction. It’s kind of like a mid-life crisis only without the sports cars (got that covered), power tools (working on this actively) or finding religion (got that too, FSM). I have been using my blog as a place to pontificate about nothing really in particular. In 2006, I want to use my blog as more of an academic journal. Oh, there will still be days where I write about nothing of real magnitude or interest to anyone. — Occasionally, I just need to amuse myself. Most of the time, though, I would like to be blogging about the things that really interest me.

Social computing: Studying the way people interact online and via technology is very interesting and will be an even bigger part of our lives in a few years at the rate personal tech is evolving. It’s amazing to see where we’ve come with digital interaction just since I was in high school in the late 90’s.

Usability What would online and technological interactions be if they were complex? I not only enjoy working with technology but figuring out ways to make it easier and more intuitive for all users.

C# Combine Java, C++ and VB and you have C#! I really enjoy learning everything I possible can about how C# and IL work. My favorite interest with C# is how to make the most efficient and reusable code as possible.

Development Life-cycle The majority of my job revolves around architecting and designing small to large systems. Long plane rides are my favorite time to architect out new systems that are either work related or just for fun. Just give me some Lemonjelly and Visio!

Reading and Writing Books A new mission in my life is to write a book. I’ve already started the outline and am up to about 27 chapters. The hardest part about buying a house is that I can’t just go and buy every book that piques my interest on a whim any longer! I’ve resorted to used books on Amazon rather than running to Barnes and Noble.

Those are my ideas right now. I’m really excited to be doing everything that I’m doing right now as far as technology and my career are going. I’m also working on my thesis/project for RIT. It will be done by the spring quarter!

On that note, I have to get back to my proposal!
