Sleep versus Programming and myLastFM
In the age old battle of sleep versus programming (learning, creating, experimenting, thinking) sleep has again lost. Since about mid December I have lost my appetite for lying in bed with my eyes closed - accomplishing nothing. There are so many things to do during the waking hours that I feel like I’m missing during sleep. Oh well, so far I’m still alive and other than one or two days I have not really felt tired after only sleeping for a few hours. I think part of the reason I have been so willing and able to stay up for a prolonged amount of time is due to Nicole being right there with me. She has been designing (learning, creating, experimenting, thinking) with me and nothing could be better! We really are an amazing team
Our most recent great feat was myLastFM. Two weekends ago Audioscrobbler released APIs to control the Last.FM streams for developers to create third-party applications. Two weekends ago we had an alpha-stage controller ready and working to control the Last.FM streams. This past weekend we moved the application to the beta stage and created a kick-ass website. Nicole and I are looking for people to test out myLastFM with Last.FM and give us feedback. Currently the Audioscrobbler APIs are still on the development server so the current myLastFM beta will only work for a short amount of time. The Audioscrobbler team is finalizing the APIs and getting ready to move them to production soon.
Steps to streaming commercial free radio via Last.FM with myLastFM:
1. Create an account with Last.FM
2. Make sure you have a media handling application installed that can stream radio - I recommend iTunes but there are several applications that are compatible
3. Download and install the Audioscrobbler plug-in (to keep track of which music you like)
4. Download myLastFM to control the Last.FM radio streams
5. Donate a few dollars to Last.FM to enable your personal profile and to support the radio station
6. After you donate to Last.FM if you like myLastFM then donate a few dollars here as well
7. Enjoy!
Thank you, Nicole, for all of your support and hard work
